Web Research & Data Extraction

Important business information is often spread across company websites, directories, event pages, industry sources and other public locations. We turn this scattered information into structured datasets based on defined research requirements.

Database Interactive web research and data extraction — company website and public source research structured into usable B2B data

Challenge

The client had a defined list of companies and websites but needed specific business information collected and structured consistently across multiple sources.

Approach

We researched the required websites and publicly available sources, extracted the requested information and standardised the data according to the client's field and formatting requirements.

Scope

Web research, website data extraction, company research, information mapping, data cleaning and quality checking.

Markets

Multi-industry B2B research across defined geographic markets.

Outcome

Converted scattered information across online sources into a structured dataset ready for business and research use.

Automation gets you the draft, not the dataset

Automated collection is efficient at gathering candidates and poor at judgement. It cannot tell a trading name from a legal name or a support address from a business contact.

Extraction output was treated as a draft and reviewed against the source before any record entered the delivery file.

Structure survives the project

Extractions delivered as loose text columns are re-cleaned by the client and quietly abandoned. Fields were normalised to a consistent schema instead.

That structure is what makes the next refresh a refresh rather than a rebuild.

Research was limited to publicly accessible sources and business contact information.

Key takeaways

  • Only publicly available business information is collected.
  • Extracted values are checked by a researcher before delivery, not shipped raw.
  • Source URL and check date are stored on every field that was researched.
